The 1st Multi-Conference titled "Sustainable Economy and Resilience: Challenges and Prospects in the Accounting and Finance Sector"

The 1st action of the Unistart Hubs Structures was successfully completed, which took place in Kalamata on April 22nd and 23rd. This event marks the beginning of a series of actions by Unistart aimed at strengthening entrepreneurship and innovation in the Peloponnese Region.
Specifically, the 1st Multi-Conference titled "Sustainable Economy and Resilience: Challenges and Prospects in the Accounting and Finance Sector" was held. As part of the conference, undergraduate and postgraduate students, PhD candidates, and young researchers presented their research work to a packed auditorium, alongside businesses, students, and other key stakeholders from the region. The program was followed by engaging discussions among innovative local businesses about the challenges of the modern market. Finally, as part of the conference, useful tools were presented to help researchers take their first steps in entrepreneurship, such as the Innovate East Innovation Competition of the Metropolitan Municipality of Mesogaia and Lavreotiki.
As emphasized by the Project Manager of UNI START – Innovation and Entrepreneurship Structures of the Peloponnese Region, Mr. Vangelis Siokas, when referring to the connection between students and the labor market and the benefits that arise from it, "Innovative business activity is a chain with many links. It starts at the university, where knowledge is generated, and continues in the market, where it offers products and services that are truly useful to citizens. We come into all these stages and support an innovative idea that originates from the university to become a reality, to establish its own business. We apply this in five cities: Corinth, Nafplio, Tripoli, Sparta, and Kalamata."
Ms. Eleni Mitsea, coordinator of UNI-START, emphasized the goal of the structures, which is to support students, researchers, and businesses, so that business ideas receive the appropriate guidance and support to be practically applied and offer benefits to the local community: "We are carrying out actions across the Peloponnese region to cultivate the culture of innovation, mentoring and coaching activities to support the more mature individuals in developing their ideas, while for the more ready teams, we will ensure their participation in business missions abroad, connect them with funding tools, and bring them in contact with clients so that they can become mature businesses that will enter the market. It is a project that will directly connect students and researchers with the market."
The Multi-Conference was held with the support of the Department of Accounting and Finance of the University of Peloponnese and under the auspices of the Peloponnese Region. Specifically, the coordination and implementation of the Unistart actions have been undertaken by the company Break-Even Consulting. The Multi-Conference was carried out as part of Sub-project 1 "Organization and Operation of Structures" of the project "Creation of structures supporting innovation and knowledge-intensive entrepreneurship in the Peloponnese Region," funded by the NSRF 2021-2027, MIS: 6004735.
